So here it is!!! Actually it is not much different then my previous post but classmates just suggested I blur the photos more but I liked it the way it was. There is a lot of advertising done at sporting events and I felt that with the pictures as they are it gives the feel of advertisement. I am really happy with the finished product because I feel that it represents me and my four years at OSU really well. I started thinking about this idea a couple weeks ago and thought that since I am graduating this was a really good project idea. A lot of things happened while I was in college and though not all of it was good, it all made me who I am today. I have grown and changed a lot over 4 years, for the better I believe. It was kind of sad fro me to think about my college career because it made me realize I am about to embark on a new journey of my life, and I have no idea what that is yet! I remember being really stressed thinking about graduating and when I was taking a picture of my cap and tassel reality really sunk in that I am graduating!!!
When I was working on this project I wasn't sure how I was going to arrange all of my different experiences on the background. I was going to make a path and just put pictures any where on the Shoe but then I talked to the teach and he suggested to think about random placement. After talking to him I thought about it more and how when I was thinking of the major events I didn't think of them in order I just thought about them and as they came to me I wrote them down. So thats when I decided to just put them on as random. I knew from the beginning that I wanted the Shoe to be my background and I took that picture personally so I think it adds to my connection with this project. I wanted to put my cousin and grandma in the clouds as if to show they are in heaven now. That part was super hard for me having to go back and think about freshman year first quarter when two people I dearly loved died three days apart. For my cousin his favorite color was orange, as is mine, and every time I find a feather I think of him and know that he is always looking out for me. That is why I put a little orange feather with his picture. For my grandma she used to sing us a ladybug song when we were younger so anytime I see a ladybug it reminds me of her so I added a little ladybug with her picture. I gained a lot of valuable experience in college and I added all my jobs/internships/volunteering in my project to show that. Hopefully it will help me get a good job...we shall see. I added a picture of my family because coming to college meant moving away from my parents (only three hours but still it was new for me) and my animals (who were like my kids!) that was hard for me but I knew it was necessary for me to grow up. There are two pictures of me and my friends. I added these because I thought it was funny/cool to see how we changed over four years. The four girls I am with in both pictures lived on the same floor as me freshman year. The picture on the right is all of us senior year. I think it is cool we ended up living together in the end too. It will be hard saying goodbye to them! Then I have a picture of me and my boyfriend who I just started dating senior year which is funny because I had a crush on him since freshman year of high school.. Oh yea Stradley Hall was my dorm freshman year. Then I put on my cap and tassel. In the middle if you noticed I put the word BELIEVE on the field. My parents raised me by telling me anything is possible just believe in yourself and you can accomplish whatever you want in life. This word means a lot to me and I do believe!!
So I realized a lot of feelings went into this project. From happiness, to sadness, I realized that it was very bittersweet for me making this. I am ready to graduate and excited but at the same time I am nervous how things are going to work out and if I will still keep in touch with my awesome friends I met in my OSU experience. I am glad I did this for my project because it allows me to look back on all my experiences at once. And yes, there were other things that happened during my four years at OS but I only had so much room and the ones included on the final project were the ones that stood out the most to me. I really enjoyed this class and am glad I had the opportunity to take it. This may have just been an elective to fill up time for me to be a full-time student but I learned a lot of new things that I will take with me throughout my life. For me this class was more then just about art, it really got you to think and, for me at least, helped me grow as a person and think about things more in depth. So I want to say thank you! Hope you like my final project!!

Final Project Idea
Okay so I threw a lot of ideas around for this project and I finally came up with one that I like. Since I am graduating really soon!! (and can't wait!) I decided to to make a collage of some sorts of all of the major things that happened to me in my four years at OSU. From jobs to internships to people, a lot has changed and shaped me to make me who I am today. I wanted to show all of this in one image. At first I was going to do it sort of like a path throughout the years but then I talked to Michael and thought it would be cool to make it a little scrambled because thats often how I think of things in my mind. I'm not sure if I am done with it yet but I am looking forward to getting feedback from classmates to see what i should change and leave alone. I figured I would make The Shoe my background since that is kind of where I started and that is where I am ending my career of being a student at OSU. I doubt I will be back here for school but hey the world is a mysterious place and you can never say never!!! Its definitely a bittersweet moment for me so I feel like this project will bring all of my wonderful, and not so wonderful, experiences together as one.
Here is a link to my project so far since for some reason it won't go on here as a picture...

So at first I was like, "what the heck am I going to do for this project?" But then I really thought about and and I thought what is something that you use more than water? Not much!! I, being as environmental savvy as I am, recycle. But, its harder for me than it sounds because we don't have recycling where I live. I have to save all the water bottles, cans, other recyclables in a basket so that I can take them to a recycle place. So as I was looking around my room trying to think of something I can take a picture of for "to collect" I glanced down at my nearly empty recycle basket. I thought that maybe if I filled it that would be perfect because you use water everyday but don't really think too much about it. So I began my journey, I had a week to fill up my basket. I went to all my roommates and collected any bottles they had. Also, I saved any bottle I came across at work and where I volunteer. Finally I was able to fill it up all the way, it was even over flowing! I thought it would be cool to put the word collect in the picture somewhere so I put them in a way so I could write the letters on different bottles. Can you find it?? The funny thing is this basket full of empty water bottles will most likely sit in my room for a while before I empty it and bottles will continue to be added to it...
My next word, "to differ", isn't as good as my first word. I was just going to do "to collect" but since I seem to be injuring myself a lot lately this seemed appropriate too. So first I sliced my leg open and had to get stitches so I have had to use many bandaids. Then I decided I was going to get various other wounds that required bandaids as well. Now thankfully I didn't need any more stitches but I did have to go on antibiotics for my cat bite. Anyways...apparently I am a klutz! So for this picture, as I was applying new bandages to all of my various wounds I noticed the different sizes and shapes of the band aides I was using. I figure this would be a good thing to use for my words "to differ." I have been using bandaids constantly for about 2 weeks now and have gotten used to them just being part of my everyday chores (changing bandaids). I took this picture to show all the differences is bandaids I have had to use recently.

Video Project
Here is the link of the video Mike and I edited.
This was a rather cool project I thought. In the first part there were guys on that machine spraying/cleaning off that front entrance of the shoe. We made the video look like it had gotten wet to add to what was happening. Then we got down to Olentangy River and found some geese to video, nothing special. Then when we were taping the geese in the water the empty bottle floated by. I thought that was cool that we captured that because it shows that, even though nature is beautiful, humans dominate over everything. It just seemed so peaceful and then garbage floats by. Then as I was taping the river alone I heard a russell in the bushes and it startled me a bit but when I looked over it was a Robin collecting twigs for her nest. I thought it was cool to be able to capture that because I probably startled her more than she startled me. Then there were just a couple clips of people running/biking on the trail. The third clip with the two guys is what really stands out though. When we were just walking and videotaping we did not notice that the one guy was holding the other guys arm while they ran. Once we started editing we saw that and wondered if the guy was blind or what. So we reversed the clip which I think gives the effect that something is different. We also put the clip in black and white to help with the effect. Then the last part is a guy directing traffic around construction. Campus is full of construction so I thought this was good to capture in the video.

Response to Carver article
When I was reading this article I figured the guy in the story would end up liking the blind man because he kept going on and on about how there was a blind man coming to his house. He was putting this guy down before he even met him! I guess what I thought would happen did because he ended up understanding the blind man. I liked at the end when he kept his eyes closed and just pictured it in his mind, I'm assuming anyways. Relating this to art I believe that our minds are art. The blind man would have to just imagine everything he hears and learns about because he doesn't actually know what it looks like. I never really thought about it before, how blind people have to come up with their own interpretations of what things look like. Also, I believe it is different if you are born blind and if you go blind at some point in your life.
Something I didn't like about this article was the repetition. I just felt like the author would say the same thing over and over like, "She wanted," "She said," she, she, she! Actually, I didn't really like the article that much at all. I kept losing interest and finding myself not paying attention to what I was reading. I think it was the way it was written though because the story itself has a good meaning. Had this story been written better I would have enjoyed it more, the writing style just threw me off. Not a bad meaning in the story though

So my original thought was talking to animals but I thought that I could make that a little better by making my power be reading minds (people and animals). I made my setting the Columbus Zoo because what other place will you find more animals and people in the same place?? I made thought bubbles for everyone so that it shows what they might be thinking. Since the guy on the left looks like he is sneaking in somewhere I made his thought be he was going to try and tame a lion. Since there is a wolf and a camel in my picture I decided to make their thought each other since a wolf can eat a camel and a camel would be scared of a wolf. For the two girls, they looked like they were just ready to enjoy their day and see their favorite animals so I put a different animal in each of their thought bubbles. The best one, I feel, is the wolverine. Since our rivals are wolverines I thought it would be funny to make his thought bubble be brutus as number one! Then lastly, I added a picture of myself to make it look like I am thinking and added all of everything else's thought to my bubble. Then I put a picture of a mind with a question mark in the middle of my bubble to say "whats everyone thinking?" I Thought this power would be pretty good for me because I am starting my internship at the Columbus Zoo soon and I think it would be cool to see what all the animals and guests are thinking. For the wolf and camel I left their cage bars in there to get a sense that they are still in cages not just running all around the entrance. Also, I like that it looks a little chaotic because I feel like my life is a little chaotic right now. I don't know if there is anything that I would want to change but maybe that my background picture was a little better quality. It was hard though because it was getting dark and rainy and gloomy outside. I like the final picture a lot though because I wasn't sure how I would be able to show that I am reading minds but then as I was working on it it came to me. If only this was true though because it would make my life a whole lot easier!! (Thanks Vince, Rachel, and Christie for posing for the pictures!)
Response to "This is Water"
I really liked when the author was talking about how one thing can mean two totally different things to different people. A lot of times I feel people don't take other peoples views into account but I think this is important. Everyone is different and not everyone is going to see the same thing in the same way. Also like right off the bat how he showed that people often don't ask some of the most important questions. Or they just go through the motions without actually understanding whats going on. I also like the writing style of this article because I feel as though it is similar to mine. How the author just goes on and on about one thing and how it leads into another. I recently started another blog and thats what I feel like I do when I write in it. I guess more then just how I write though its how I think. One second I will be driving and someone will cut me off and they are a jerk but then I think well maybe someone the love just got hurt or they are having a bad day or they...you get the picture. I just keep thinking of different scenarios in my head.
One thing I didn't like about this article or I guess I could say I just didn't understand was when the author was talking about suicide. Someone pretty close to me has committed suicide rather recently so I think the whole idea that it was brought up in a graduation speech was a little weird. I think when I saw the word suicide I just couldn't comprehend the rest of the paragraph because I was stuck on that. I don't believe that people who commit suicide are dead long before hand. I don't know I guess it is still a sensitive subject to me. Another thing I didn't like was when the author talked about there being no such thing as atheism. I mean I get where they are coming from but who is he to say that there isn't atheism? He doesn't know, he may not be atheist but that doesn't mean other people aren't or don't define themselves as it. I don't know I just feel like thats me saying there is no such thing as Judaism. I may not follow those practices but other people do so it has to be real right? Okay last thing I had to comment on that I didn't really like was at the end when the author said "education really is the job of a lifetime." Now I took this as him saying that you need an education to get a good job but I know plenty of people that have really good jobs (better than some that did get a college degree) and didn't go to college. Overall i just had quite a bit of mixed feelings on this one.

Here are my three original images of different views of Mirror Lake.
Below are my three images of my favorite place on campus. I picked Mirror Lake because I find it to be peaceful and I like to see wildlife. Since it is water a there are a lot of different animals around the area like ducks, birds, and squirrels. In my first image I wanted to make it look relaxing so I added a pillow and blanket on the bench. I also added the first book in the Hunger Games series because I like to read and that is the book I am currently reading. I fell that I was really able to capture the peacefulness because I made it look comfortable and homey. I also really like to swim so in all the images I made it look like there are pool lines and I also made it look a little more desirable to swim in. On the left side you see a green beach ball in the distance. This brings me to my second image which is of a different view of the lake. I like to lay out and tan so I wanted to show that in "my spot" as well. What better place to lay out then around water? You can see the beach ball floating in the water and then on the bank I put a towel and suntan lotion. I also like that you can see some ducks on the bank which captures some of the wildlife that live around Mirror Lake. This view also shows peacefulness in laying out and just relaxing. In the far distance there are two small images of my dogs. This brings me to my final view of Mirror lake. My dogs are like my kids so I couldn't imagine "my spot" without them. They really like to swim and be lazy as well so one of them is in the water and one is laying on the bank. Again the pool lines are present so it looks better for swimming in. Also, you can see the ball in the distance which I added to show that I also like to play pool games and not just sit around. I wouldn't want a huge crowd of people in and around my "Mirror Pool" place but I would want my friends to be able to come and go as they please.

Response to Kaprow article
What I really liked about this article was that it got me thinking of what art really is. It made me think of one of our first classes when we defined art and my group said art can pretty much be anything. It also makes me think of the quote "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." It makes me think of this quote because I would not necessarily view brushing your teeth as art but some people, like Kaprow, do. This shows that not everyone has to view something the same but that everyone can have their own opinion on what they believe. Anyway, it also got me thinking about what I look like brushing my teeth and how many things I do throughout the day and not pay too much attention to. I liked this article because it made me more aware of my movements when I complete everyday tasks such as brush my teeth.
There isn't really much I don't like about this article except I wish the author would have maybe come up with other examples than brushing teeth. I got a little bored hearing about brushing teeth over and over and feel like another everyday task like brushing hair, putting on make-up, or showering would have been good to add in there for more examples. I don't know if I got exactly what the author was trying to convey but my interpretation of it really got me to think.

1. My cell phone
I would grab my cell phone not because I can't live without it but because I have a lot of pictures on it, about 1,000. I don't have all of the pictures saved to my computer so I don't want to lose them. Also, so I can call the emergency number if my house is burning down.
One or two words: hidden value
2. My iPad
I would grab my iPad because it is pretty valuable and it means a lot to me because it was a gift from my parents. I know that they wouldn't care because their number one priority would be me being safe but it is important to me. Also, I have a lot of music on my iPad that I wouldn't want to lose.
One or two words: significant melody
3. My computer
I use my computer for a lot of things including school work. It wouldn't be the end of the world to lose my computer but it would make my life a lot harder to complete papers and assignments. I would save my computer so that I wouldn't have to always borrow a friends or go to the library to get work done.
One or two words: task completer
4. My external hard drive
So I know this sounds a little weird but I recently got a new computer and stored all of my old pictures from my old computer on the external hard drive. Pictures say a thousand words and remind me so much of fun memories I had and I do not want to lose those.
One or two words: compact memories
5. My blanket
I would choose to grab my orange and yellow blanket because my aunt made it for me when I was younger when the family was going through a hard time. I don't like to go anywhere without it. Also, it is my two favorite colors!
One or two words: meaningful comfort
6. My clutch with ID, debit card, blood donor card, and other important information
My clutch has a lot of important information in there like insurance card, and bank number. When I don't have it with me I feel lost. I just feel that if I could prevent it I would not want to lose my ID or debit card or any cash I may have and all of that is kept in my clutch.
One or two words: information holder
7. A picture of my family
It always comes back to pictures with me and this picture is my absolute favorite! My family means the world to me and I always want to have a picture with me so that if I am having a hard time I can look at it and feel stronger.
One or two words: inner strength

Finished product!
I wanted to make my picture show that the most important things are not the items but the memories. I made my background the blanket because its not something super important although it still has meaning. For the rest of my items I made it look like they were connecting in the middle to the most important thing in my life, my family. I made the picture of my family stand out the most and it is on top of everything else. Also, all of my other items connect to my family in some way and I wanted to show that. Something that I feel this doesn't show about me as a person is that I am not hugely materialistic. Although this picture seems to show that I need my computer and phone and iPad I don't. I could live with out any of these items but given the chance these are the things in my room right now that are most important to me.

Review of "Feet in Smoke" Article
Right off the bat I liked the writing style this article had. It is very descriptive and drew me in right away. For me, it is easier to understand and visualize something if they describe things in detail. I think that when more descriptive words are used it completes the story and you can play it back in your head making up what you think it looks like. I guess it is art because you are creating images in your head and visualizing what is happening. When the story first started off I thought that it was just going to be about music and I would have to right about how music is art. I liked that the story surprised me like that. It got me thinking of how many different forms of art there are and how, pretty much, anything can be art. It also got me thinking of how most of the time stories are better then the movies made from them. This goes back to being able to visualize what is happening and when you get one view in your head it is hard to accept when a different view is shown to you. I guess I got a little off topic but thats what the story got me thinking of. Anyways, I liked it more than not!
I guess the only thing I didn't like was the transitioning the author made in the story. I felt it was a little confusing and I wish the transition would have been a little more smooth. When they go from talking about the accident to i guess journal entries of that Worth was saying and then back to the story of Worths recovery. Overall though the story was good and really got me to think.

On my way to class I realized that I don't pay that much attention to my surroundings. Since I ride my bike I mainly try to stay away from people and not run into them. I also realized that I think about my day ahead and keep replaying in my head how I think it is going to go. The things I mainly focus on with my eyes are people and cars, oh and colorful shiny stuff! Also I constantly look for glass when I am riding through alley ways so that I don't get a flat bike tire. For touch I noticed the softness and stickiness of my handle bars because I have bad grips on them. Also, the wind on my hands and face as I am riding. Like you said in class it is weird that both my feet don't touch the ground at the same time again until I'm at my destination. I never thought about that before either. Since I ride in the alley when I first start heading to class all I usually smell is trash because of all the smelly dumpsters around. Then I don't really notice any smell until I get closer to the RPAC where they are doing construction. Around that area I start to notice a tar-like smell like grease or something and then it smells dusty and dirty. When I was behind a bus it smelled like gas and smoke. I noticed that for my hearing I usually just tune everything out. If I am waiting by a red light then I usually notice cars going by or people talking but for the most part I zone off and go into my own little world and don't really listen. I noticed that all I tasted this morning was mint because I was chewing gum but other mornings aside from the minty taste of just brushing my teeth I also can taste what I smell. So I can taste dirt in my mouth around construction if it is dusty. It was weird to me how little I actually pay attention when I ride my bike to class. I am aware of everything around me but I zone it all out and only focus on my day or what is right in front of me. Its kind of cool though! Here is my picture!
So for this project I definitely wanted to show my handle bars of my bike so that my way of transportation is included in the picture. At the very bottom I included a picture of my alarm clock set for 8:30 which is the time I wake up for class so I can be ready on time. Then on the left side next to the truck is a dumpster. This is included because I ride past a bunch of dumpsters in the alley ways I take and it smells like trash. I included a couple different street signs to incorporate that I do not follow the road signs and where I am most alert. The right most top one is of the corner of High and 15th, this is where I cross High street and pay the most attention. The one right below that is the sign at the end of the alley before you turn on Pearl; I don't follow either of the commands on the sign! The third sign is on the left "Do Not Enter" this is another sign that I don't follow because I ride right past the sign and go that way. Also on the left just below that sign is letters that spell out Columbus. They are a little jumbled but the point of this was to make the letters look like pieces of broken glass since there is broken glass all around Columbus and I try and avoid it. I also included a pedestrian fairly close in front of me to show that I am always aware of people around me even though I am zoned out and thinking about other things. Also because people are hard to avoid sometimes because they start to do funny dances in front of you. Lastly, in the top left corner is a picture of The Shoe. I wanted to highlight it because my ultimate goal is to arrive here on time. It is what is most prominent in my head the entire time I am riding to class. Hope you like it!

My view of the Wexner
So I had some mixed feelings about the Wexner Art Museum. Over all I liked it but there were some things I did not like. First of all I had never been there before so I didn't really know what to expect but when I walked in the two people at the desk didn't even acknowledge me. I figured I could just figure out where to go by myself but I was kind of confused so I ended up asking a security person. He was nice. I pictured the Wexner to be more open I guess and colorful, it wasn't. As i walked to David Smiths section of sculptures and drawings there was just a long hallway and it broke off into little open areas where his work was. I just figured it would all be in one big open room. Some things I didn't like about his work was that a lot of his work was untitled. To me, it is not complete unless it has a title. I don't know maybe he just can't think of good names but I feel like the name adds to the piece. Another thing I didn't like was that the labels of what the piece was were not right next to the piece in a lot of cases. They weren't that hard to find but I figured it would be a lot easier. I next went to Sarah Morris' video Points on a Line. Yeah, I didn't really like this at all. I don't know if it was the music or the room but right when I walked in I knew I wasn't going to stay long. I guess I just didn't really understand it. It was a little random and I only stayed for maybe 7 minutes because I was not intrigued by it at all.
I did like a lot of things about my experience though. For the Points on a Line video it seemed, to me at least, that she is showing you that anything can be art. She shows the art of culinary work and the buildings and different things in the building like wallpaper, bathrooms, and the elevator buttons changing. I also really liked the flow of the window shades that were shown in the film. When I was leaving a duck came on the screen, he was cute so that was my favorite part of the video. David Smiths section was a lot cooler to me. I liked his abstract views and use of geometric shapes. He used a lot of curves and bends and different materials for his work. I also like how he plays with balance in his work and makes it seem like some of his art is unstable. He also seems like a versatile artist because he had pictures and drawings and sculptures in his gallery. I liked how his drawings from his notebook were in there as well because it shows you his thought process in some of the actual sculptures that were on display. His Lectern in Sentinel sculpture reminded me of when people set up different toys or objects and let a ball go and it triggers things as it goes along. Smiths Construction 1932 sculpture reminded me of an ancient city or something, I have no idea why? One thing I thought was funny when I was there was a lady passing by giving a tour was telling the people that "the more time you spend with a piece the more you understand it and get out of it." I just thought it was funny because we had already talked about this in class and I do feel that its true as well.
The piece I spent most time with was David Smiths Spread from Sketchbook #23 from 1933-1945, pencil on paper. At first when I looked at it I thought that it looked just like that, pencil on paper. But then I started looking at it more and I thought okay I guess it is pretty cool it almost looks like planes or something. Then I started seeing people. I associated the shapes he drew as people dancing or being ballerinas. Some of them it looked like they were just balancing on one foot and stretching or doing yoga. Then even further I was thinking it looked like circus people. First I associated some of the sketches as clowns doing funny things and then one of them looked like a joker to me trying to juggle. I just thought it was cool looking at the simple drawings of shapes and how my perception of those shapes changed the longer I looked at them!

5. Person up close
6. Image from point of view of an ant
7. Image from point of view of a bird
8. A stable image
9. An unstable image
10. My name on Campus
I really enjoyed this project! One thing that was the same for both sets of pictures was that I picked things that would make a good picture and not just shoot random things. Also, I tried to take pictures of things that had some sort of meaning behind them. Something that was different between the two sets of pictures is that for the second set I actually thought more about what I was taking pictures of. Also, I took multiple pictures of the same thing so that I could choose which one I liked best. For the first set of pictures I just took one picture of the objects so I could get it done. I like that I had to think more about taking pictures and I feel that the pictures had more meaning behind them. I also like that it helped me be more creative and really think outside the box as to what I could do for my pictures.
I would have to say that the second set of pictures was more enjoyable for me. I feel this way because I really thought hard about what I could do for the pictures and it made me be more creative. The first set of pictures was just something I wanted to get done right away and didn't think too much about what I was taking pictures of. Although I did try to have meaning behind all twenty of my pictures I feel that the second set of ten had more meaning.
My favorite images are numbers 4, 6, 9, and 10 of the second set of images. I like picture number 4 because I didn't just want to do a picture of someone standing there with things around them, I wanted the picture to tell a story. I took a lot of pictures for this but I liked this one the best because it has a chaotic feeling about it. The dogs are all over the place and my cousin is confused and trying to hold on as best he could. Also, I feel like this picture describes my life in a weird way, even though I am not even in it. This is because I feel like my life is all over the place right now! I like picture 6 because I messed around a lot with the focus to get this shot and I felt like it was most important to focus on right in front which is what I feel like an ant would be focusing on. Also, I liked being outside and flipping the camera around to get the shot, I think it came out great! Picture 9 is of my two dogs and I really think it came out good. I was trying for the longest time to get them to both look at the camera at the same time and that wasn't working. I tilted the camera so it was unstable but I also feel it is unstable in the sense that the dogs are looking in different directions showing that A lot was probably going on in the background. For picture 10 I think I like the meaning behind it more so then the picture itself. I never usually go by my full name Jennifer so I shorten it to Jenn which is the beginning of this buildings name. But not only is my name in the picture, Jennings Hall is also the Zoology building which is my major and I have had many classes and spent a lot of time in this building. Overall I had a really fun time with this project and look forward to the projects ahead! =)

10 Pictures!
Here are ten random pictures I just took around my house...
The bear, the puppy and sleeping beauty were favorites of classmates.
My favorites were the believe snowman because I feel like that is such a powerful word by itself. Also, I like the one of my roommates puppy.

Response to Nipple Jesus
When I saw the title I didn't really know what to think of this article. I liked that it didn't tell you right off the bat what the Nipple Jesus was and also that it didn't tell you the meaning of the artwork at first. It makes you think, why would someone make a picture of Jesus out of little pictures of nipples. To me I took it as the meaning that nothing is always as it seems. When you look at it from far away you see a pretty picture but then once you get up close and personal you are taken aback and your opinion changes. It is kind of like the saying you can't judge a book by its cover. The meaning the artist had was different which shows that artwork can have many different meanings to everyone. Something else I liked about this article was that the main characters views on the piece of artwork changed so much. I know that sometimes I will complete a paper or something reread over and over it and be satisfied and then go back the next day and I do not like it at all and I change a lot of the wording. I feel that this is that same concept. When you spend a lot of time with something you have a lot of time to think about that and your initial thoughts may not always be your final thoughts.
Something I did not like about this article was that it was too random. The order was a little confusing and the author started talking about one thing and make the character go off in random tangents about other things. I think that I would have liked this article a lot more had it not been so non-orderly. Also, I think that it started off a little slow and there were many parts that really didn't need to be added. Overall, i felt, the article was good but the arrangement was wrong.

Response to Walker and Barrett articles
One thing that I liked about the Walker article was the examples. The author provides many examples of artwork and artists to get their point across. This really helped me understand so of the ideas better rather than just saying them with out examples. I believe it is important to have examples because they help the reader understand and if the reader doesn't understand then they won't be interested in the article any more. Another thing I liked was the subject matter or big idea section. I liked this because it showed you that you can incorporate a lot of different things into your artwork but yet still maintain your big idea.
One thing I did not like about the Walker article was the theme vs big idea part. I was not fully able to understand how the theme and big idea are not always the same thing. To me it seems like they should be the same thing because a theme is a big idea of a piece of work. I always viewed the theme to be a major part of something; you always try and find the theme of a book or project which is mainly what your work is about. I did like how he used examples however I feel that that part could have been explained a little more.
The part of the Barrett article that stuck out most to me was the interpreting part. I thought that it was cool how the different ages can pick out the connotations and denotations of certain things. Normally you don't think of preschoolers able to do this but when given something as simple as a teddy bear they can. I also thought it was cool the level of ability the kindergartners had in separating the cereal boxes. I know its not a hard thing to do but it is cool to see that they understand at such a young age how the look of something targets a different audience.
Something that I didn't really like in the Barrett article was that he didn't define connotations and denotations very clearly in the beginning. I feel that he should have provided a better understanding of what they are before just jumping in and talking about them. I believe that it turns readers away if they don't have any clue what the author is writing about unless it says in the beginning. The idea of connotations and denotations itself is great but how is someone supposed to understand an article if they don't know what it is even talking about.

Response to the Kidd, Hickey and Weschler articles
Something that I found useful in the Kidd article was that it shows you that you don't have to use many standards in art. For instance, normally the more important thing goes on the left, but in art it doesn't have to. If you are creating a piece of art work with different images or drawings within the same piece there are no standards as to where the most important picture goes. The artwork as a whole is important. In fact, I believe it is more important to place the more extravagant side of your piece on the right since most people may read or look at it from the left. That way the viewer will see the better part last.
Something I didn't really like about the Kidd article was that it was a little confusing. Some parts I didn't understand as well. When the author said that the enemy was always coming from the left I didn't necessarily agree. I guess I just don't understand his thought process on this. I was able to see connections to art in the article but I don't believe I completely understood what the author was talking about.
Something I found useful in the Hickey article was that we can define our own art and what is acceptable. Rules are always changing and Hickey shows that we can define what is acceptable as we go along. We don't think of every possibility until it happens so you will never have every rule set in play. I believe that art does not have any rules. Many things can be considered as art so it is hard to limit yourself when working on a project. You will never know until you try something if it will work out or not.
Something I did not like about the Hickey article was that I don't really think I got the full connection with art as there was. When he says that "art wins" I don't fully understand what he is talking about. I don't really think of basketball as art. Also, I don't understand how rule changes make basketball art unless I am just missing the point completely which is always a possibility.
In the Weschler article I found that the complexity of the face in animation is engaging. When you think of a face, something you see everyday and many of, you don't think about how much detail there is and how much expression it has the potential of. Weschler talks about how animators have a hard time creating faces and expressions. This makes sense but it is something I have never thought about before. An actor/actress and move their face any way they need to according to the motion they need to portray but creating an emotion from scratch is hard to do since the animation cannot do it itself.
One thing I didn't really like in the Weschler article was the milk analogy. I had a hard time following along with that and I don't think I fully understood it. I feel that he could have just explained what was going on without referring to the milk. I took milk as being the lighting of the face and the glow that it has, which could be wrong but thats what I got out of it. In that case I guess the skim milk would be a duller lighting, I really am not sure.
