MP 2

On my way to class I realized that I don't pay that much attention to my surroundings. Since I ride my bike I mainly try to stay away from people and not run into them. I also realized that I think about my day ahead and keep replaying in my head how I think it is going to go. The things I mainly focus on with my eyes are people and cars, oh and colorful shiny stuff! Also I constantly look for glass when I am riding through alley ways so that I don't get a flat bike tire. For touch I noticed the softness and stickiness of my handle bars because I have bad grips on them. Also, the wind on my hands and face as I am riding. Like you said in class it is weird that both my feet don't touch the ground at the same time again until I'm at my destination. I never thought about that before either. Since I ride in the alley when I first start heading to class all I usually smell is trash because of all the smelly dumpsters around. Then I don't really notice any smell until I get closer to the RPAC where they are doing construction. Around that area I start to notice a tar-like smell like grease or something and then it smells dusty and dirty. When I was behind a bus it smelled like gas and smoke. I noticed that for my hearing I usually just tune everything out. If I am waiting by a red light then I usually notice cars going by or people talking but for the most part I zone off and go into my own little world and don't really listen. I noticed that all I tasted this morning was mint because I was chewing gum but other mornings aside from the minty taste of just brushing my teeth I also can taste what I smell. So I can taste dirt in my mouth around construction if it is dusty. It was weird to me how little I actually pay attention when I ride my bike to class. I am aware of everything around me but I zone it all out and only focus on my day or what is right in front of me. Its kind of cool though! Here is my picture!

So for this project I definitely wanted to show my handle bars of my bike so that my way of transportation is included in the picture. At the very bottom I included a picture of my alarm clock set for 8:30 which is the time I wake up for class so I can be ready on time. Then on the left side next to the truck is a dumpster. This is included because I ride past a bunch of dumpsters in the alley ways I take and it smells like trash. I included a couple different street signs to incorporate that I do not follow the road signs and where I am most alert. The right most top one is of the corner of High and 15th, this is where I cross High street and pay the most attention. The one right below that is the sign at the end of the alley before you turn on Pearl; I don't follow either of the commands on the sign! The third sign is on the left "Do Not Enter" this is another sign that I don't follow because I ride right past the sign and go that way. Also on the left just below that sign is letters that spell out Columbus. They are a little jumbled but the point of this was to make the letters look like pieces of broken glass since there is broken glass all around Columbus and I try and avoid it. I also included a pedestrian fairly close in front of me to show that I am always aware of people around me even though I am zoned out and thinking about other things. Also because people are hard to avoid sometimes because they start to do funny dances in front of you. Lastly, in the top left corner is a picture of The Shoe. I wanted to highlight it because my ultimate goal is to arrive here on time. It is what is most prominent in my head the entire time I am riding to class. Hope you like it!
